Glebe Police Station – Multi Roof Rectification
Main Works
Oriel was contracted by Downer/Spotless on behalf of the NSW Government to prepare a dilapidation report and restore eight roofs of the historic Glebe Police Station.
The project involved extensive roof and façade works including:
- Removal and replacement of deteriorated slate roofing, framing, gutters, downpipes, and related components.
- Repointing of 20m² of brickwork in lime putty mix, with vegetation removal.
- Repair and painting of façade cracks, parapet capping, and balcony walls.
- Installation of new lead over flashings, custom Orb roof sheeting, box gutters, skylights, and cast iron rainwater heads.
- Treatment of roof battens with borate preservative and replacement of stainless steel spreaders.
- Repairing and re-sealing façade joints, including aluminum flashing and water sealing.
- Replacement of balcony sliding doors, windows, and installation of new tiling.
- Waterproofing with high-performance membranes and cavity flashings, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Safe demolition of old structures, preparation of surfaces for new finishes, and all necessary testing and certifications.
The works were carried out with a focus on safety, heritage compliance, and minimal disruption to the environment.
